I offer the following Single-Answer to 22 Classes of Questions in all the kindly messages I’ve been receiving.

Those familiar with the wisdom principle of via negativa will appreciate there is a lot to learn from negative injunctions. It is important to steer clear from error then [and only then] do we apply the course correction.

THE QUESTION FORM

YOU: “Hey Old Man, I see by the photos that you ain’t doin’ too shabby for 59 years old. How much running do you do?”

·        None. I DO NOT RUN.

“Do you deadlift?”

·        Nope.

“How often do you back squat?”

·        Never.

“How many days per week do you shoulder press?”

·        Nada

Do you still do your own conditioning programs “Gladiator Conditioning” and/or “Mega-Gladiator?”

·        Nope. Not at all.

Do you Power Clean?

·        Nope

Snatch?

·        Nope

Kettlebell Swing?

·        Nope.

·        I do Zero inertial lifts.

Well, Turkish Get-Ups are in for grappling specificity and stability, right?

·        Nope and, exactly what grappling motion does a TGU specifically resemble?

·        Cue Theatrical Cricket Sounds.

Sit-Ups?

·        No

Roman Chair?

·        Nope

Ruck?

·        Uhn-uh

Row

·        Beyond what I do in a real kayak, canoe or paddleboard for fun and exploration—Nah.

Sprint?

·        Nah

You’re old so TRT maybe?

·        Nope.

Anabolic helpers, HGH, any “gear” at all?

·        Nope. I’m an Old School historical devotee.

·        If it weren’t available in 1910, I don’t do it.

What do you do for cardio?

·        Fight Training or Warrior Walking—Never both on the same day.

Pull-Ups?

·        None that you would recognize as a pull-up.

Chin-Ups

·        They are a baby-step in the Unleaded Program.

·        I personally no longer use them. Inefficient use of my time.

But you do push-ups, right?

·        Nope, nary a one.

Dips

·        Again, baby steps in the Unleaded Program but me? Nope.

Lengthy Training Sessions, right?

·        I train on a 3-day revolving circuit.

·        Unleaded Conditioning Whole Hog times are as follows…

• Day 1: Warrior Abs/Unleaded Thighs/Hips 21:52

• Day 2: Unleaded Back & Chest 24:09

• Day 3: Unleaded Shoulders and Unleaded Armed & Dangerous 21:52

·        All sub-25-minute workouts.

·        The + or – 30 Second Rule keeps me always in this ballpark.

Walk Like a Warrior by Mark Hatmaker

In reading contemporary historical accounts written by soldiers (cavalry and dragoon), settlers, scouts, pioneers, and other citizens of the American frontier 1680s-1880s, I find mention that Native Americans (“Indians” or “Savages” in the accounts) did not walk like “white men.” Their gait, stride, and foot placement is described often in poetic terms as “light” or “light-footed,” “fleet”, “gliding”, and often times “springy” or “spring-like.” These terms while descriptive of the effect do little to tell us the how or why of the gait. We can find clues in accounts given by trackers in any of the myriad “Indian Wars” or skirmishes that riddled the continent in the first few centuries of the settling of the nation. The obvious telltale barefoot or soft impression of a moccasin is often a giveaway that you have a Native American track but this is less so in the moccasined foot as more and more Anglo backwoodsmen adopted this footwear.
