FIRST-Me and the Missus will be travellin’ the Old
Southwest Desert & Hi-Rock Sinagua Canyon Country for a combination
Adventure/Research Trip the 17th thru the 26th. You can still query and place
orders during that time, I simply counsel patience that I will get to these
asap upon my return. Research-wise, allow me to say I have two heapin’ boxes of
dusty archival materials awaiting me upon my arrival. Treasures abound!]
SECOND—A li’l preview of where The Black Box Rough ‘n’
Tumble Subscription Program is headed in 2026.
FUEL FOR MEN OF STANDING
• Last year’s focus for The Black Box Subscription service was Unleaded
Conditioning to get the Combat Athlete, the Old School Combination Man into the
best conditioning of his life, even in Old Dogs like myself.
• And, yes, the entire 6-Block Program is now available in the store for
those ready to GO! https://www.extremeselfprotection.com/store
• This year The Black Box Brotherhood focus will be FRONTIER JKD.
• We will offer instructional material that demonstrates and proves that
throwing hands, twisting limbs, wielding weapons was a different breed of
panther in the early days of these here United States.
We will delve deep into what was called The Upper & Lower Battalions
[see our recent podcast and essay on the historical origin of these terms.]
• The Blog and Podcast will feature historical back-up for the material…
• Whereas The Black Box Subscription Service will be all nitty-gritty
down n dirty details of this vicious amalgamation of yore that one can think of
as the fat rendered drippin’s from the Old World stewed and brewed with the
rough-hewn ways encountered in the Eastern Woodlands, the Great American
Desert, the Mountainous Divides and the unforgiving Malpais Country.
STRIKING:
BOXING W/ EDGES
·
We will delve
deep into the Combination of throwing hands “edging the points in” [elbows]
game.
·
We will hit
the 4 Broad Categories in excruciating detail.
·
One—“Basics”
we rebuild fundamentals the historical way. We educate the aggressiveness of a
painful defense, how NEVER to be where you last were with each and every punch,
never being a “head on a stick” and mucho more Old School strategical gems.
·
Two--Footwork
[this ain’t your modern footwork game, this is a head-to-toe consideration that
considers bucks and grinds all a part of the maneuvering game.]
·
Three—Combinations.
We re-formulate throwing hands with incessant [and I do mean incessant]
movement with all the scrapes, edges, prods and digs part and parcel of the
game.
·
Four—KO Power.
A deep deep look into accelerating motion, collision tactics, fast 90s, and all
the other hard-hitting armament in the Old Toolbox.
THE MID-BATTALION: GRAPPLING ON THE FEET
We break this into 5 broad categories.
1. A deeper dive into The Alley Clinch and “Rabbit” Clinch.
2. Stockade Fighting: Fighting off of upright surfaces,
3. In Tight Leg Diving, Takedown Eating, and a long exposition
on “Keeping your feet.” [Read that as Old School takedown defense that has stink
on it.]
4. Drop, Pop, and Go. Think of it as Ground n Pound
with an emphasis on immediate get-up.
5. Clinch Kicking. ‘Nuff said.
THE LOWER BATTALION: All Snap No Tap Old School Submissions
This is broken into 6 broad categories.
1. Arm-Breakers
2. Leg-Breakers
3. Neck-Breakers
4. Figure-4/Leg-Scissor Arsenal. There is such a deep vocabulary
of using the legs as an assist in arm, leg, and neck-breaking that it needs its
own category.
5. Roughstock: A sojourn into the Old School game of
riding [not pinning] with “rodeo” aggression.
6. The Lonesome Grappler: 300+ Solo-Grappling Drills
for the Lower Battalion Fighter for when partners are scarce, injured or undergritted.
