Ground-Fighting, we
all picture grappling, right? [Well, most of us do.]
But…it seems many a tribe saw the ground as far more inclusive than the rolling scrum.
This world includes,
yes, mean finishers that at first blush would seem to be standard grappling
[t’aint true] but…it also is comprised of a Wild [notice that capital “W”], I
repeat, Wild variety of kicking in the midst of ground interaction.
I’m talking…
·
Kicks from
the ground to fellow ground-based opponents, be that grappling, striking or
weapons engaged.
·
Grounded-Kicking from ground to standing opponents.
·
Two-Way
Transition Kicking—that is,
kicks that are delivered while going to the ground or kicks that literally rise
you from the ground.
·
Pillar
or Support Kicking, which is
a mighty interesting kicking vocabulary that uses vertical and upright support
to aid, abet, add power and range to kicking. These wild ones allow you to get
your environmental weapons jones going and fire up your swashbuckler spirit. Many
of these are add-ins from the rough n tumble of keelboat men and a good bit of
evidence of why we may have seen it rear its head in the Gulf Pirates and the
Brotherhood of the Carolina Coast.
·
Kicks that
snap, crackle, and pop joints top to bottom.
·
An adept
at this method would be called Soko’ob’i Eka’sah’pana’ [Ground Warrior.]
·
We’ll
offer historical support for these in the blog and podcast along the way, but
the how’s, why’s and when’s, well, that is Black Box Membership privilege only.
We’ve been working on
codifying and arranging this material for some time and believe we’re finally there.
Broadly, we see 27 separate “units” of mayhem delivery.
That is not 27 separate
kicks, but 27 classes of wildness—trust me, this material is vast, that’s one reason
it has taken so long trying to corral all the disparate sources.
Now, here’s the
thing—some of them are easy-peasey you’ll be able to fire them with rapid vigorous
force with your first drilling; while others require a bit of unusual mobility,
or agility, or confounding movement.
So, as the material is
presented, a broad-base of “exercises/drills” that familiarize the athlete with
“How” to move is delivered where needed.
We did not have the
opportunity to grow up with these “war games” where such movement was a given,
but…by pairing the movement skill with the tactical skill we can still make our
War Game Bones and be up to snuff in no time.
BTW-This is all I’ve
been doing for “cardio” along with the Unleaded Conditioning Protocol. It’s
sort of an agility, mobility, stamina, strength, flexibility, combat utility
matrix all rolled into one. The gift that keeps on giving.
We will be delivering
the Soko’ob’i Eka’sah’pana’ units throughout The Black Box Membership
program and nowhere else.
That means, no
freebies, no giveaways. Been trying to wrangle this into manageable shape for
years and now finally ready for Go!
Trust me, it is a
wild-ass way to approach all aspects of combat, your standing game, your ground
game, your in-between game—hell, your weapons game—many of these take pride in maintaining
and delivering weapons strikes in the midst of the unarmed blow.
Now, some may think, “Well,
that’s neat but are these just ornamental, or are they practical?”
That is the question
to ask—The answer? 100% practical.
These kicks were concocted in a world with no film choreography in mind, no TikTok to garner digital love. They were
fired in the forge of early Frontier warfare. They were devised to work.
Let us recall how confounding
Muhammad Ali found the simplistic ground-kicking of Antonio Inoki. Now cube and
square that arsenal and expand the delivery system exponentially and add the prospect
of weaponry and the “Kick to Snap” aspect of joint-kicking and added
submissions, well, then you’re facing in the right direction.
It is full of odd
surprises that can do nothing but add equalizing ambush power to your
protection toolbox.
